'Fecund'

On Wednesday November 6th 2019, I collaborated with artist Teresa Doyle to exhibit some of my most recent work in Castlepollard Library, Co. Westmeath. The exhibition was attended by the Westmeath Comhairle Cllr. Paddy Hill and opened by artist Ursula Meehan .

I feel it is important to keep my artistic practice resilient while teaching. It also enables me to show the students that I am a working artist as well as an art educator.

'Ba (Hons) Level 8 Fine Art Degree Show'

I exhibited some of the work I had made during my final year in CCAM GMIT. I attempted to make a 3D version of my paintings and decided to include a 3D sculpture using found wires, pipes and wood. This center piece for my work was to act as a focal point for the viewers.

Making large scale work (6ft x 6ft +) canvases was my biggest eureka moment during college. By increasing the size of my canvases it allowed me to use bigger brushes which resulted in larger marks to be put  in various pockets of space.

My idea for the final year exhibition was to immerse the viewer in  my work, make them look longer, make them want to know what exactly I was thinking when I created this 'knot' of paint on the canvas, make them want to know more and figure out what they were seeing within the marks.
